Start
- Open a Google Doc.
- Select Extensions → HighlightFlow → Open HighlightFlow.
- Select text in the Doc.
- Click a labeled color in the Highlight tab.
- Open Extract and select Find my highlights.
Common fixes
“Select text in the document first”
Click and drag over editable text in the Doc, then click a color. A blinking cursor is not a text selection.
The sidebar does not appear
Reload the Doc once after installation. Confirm the add-on is installed for the current Google account, then reopen it from Extensions. If a school or business administrator blocks add-ons, contact that administrator.
A highlighted passage is missing
Run Import doc colors, then extract again. HighlightFlow includes paragraphs, list items, and table cells. Include the document structure and anonymized reproduction steps in a support request; do not email confidential document content.
A color says “Unlabeled”
The document contains a background color not present in a saved palette. Choose Import doc colors to add it, then rename its generated label.
Markdown or CSV is locked
Those downloads are Pro features. Clipboard export remains free. If you purchased Pro, enter the license key from the purchase email under Palettes.
A Pro key does not activate
Confirm the entire key was pasted without extra spaces. The key must belong to HighlightFlow Pro and have an available activation. Use Deactivate here before moving a license from another installation.
Reset the add-on
Choose Palettes → Reset all saved settings. This restores starter palettes. It does not alter document highlights or cancel a payment. Use Deactivate here separately to release a Pro activation.
What to include in a support request
- Browser name and version
- Google account type: personal, school, or business (do not send the account address unless needed for reply)
- HighlightFlow version
- Exact steps before the error
- The error text
- Whether the text was in a paragraph, list, or table
Do not send confidential document text. A minimal, anonymous test document is preferred.
