This policy explains how HighlightFlow: Highlighter & Extractor (“HighlightFlow”) handles information when you use the Google Docs add-on.

Summary

HighlightFlow does not require a HighlightFlow account, does not run advertising, does not use behavioral analytics, and does not store document content in a publisher-controlled database. Document text is processed transiently in the Google Apps Script execution environment and the add-on sidebar only to perform the action you request.

Information processed

Document content

When you highlight, scan, or extract text, HighlightFlow accesses the currently open document. It uses this content only to apply background colors and return highlighted passages to the sidebar. HighlightFlow does not transmit document text to the publisher, the payment provider, or another external service.

Saved preferences

Palette names, labels, colors, export-success count, and review-prompt preference are stored in Google Apps Script User Properties associated with the user. These settings are used only to operate the add-on.

Optional Pro license data

If you activate HighlightFlow Pro, the add-on sends the license key and a random installation label to Lemon Squeezy's License API. The provider may return order, product, variant, and customer metadata. HighlightFlow discards customer name and email and stores only the license key, license-instance ID, product variant ID, status, expiration value, and last-validation time in Google Apps Script User Properties.

Document content is never included in a license request.

Purposes

Information is processed only to:

Sharing

HighlightFlow does not sell personal information. Google processes information as the platform provider. Lemon Squeezy processes only optional licensing and transaction information when Pro is purchased or activated. Their own privacy terms govern their services.

Retention and deletion

Document content is not persistently stored by HighlightFlow. Saved preferences remain in Google Apps Script User Properties until reset. A stored license remains until deactivated, invalidated, or deleted. Users can choose Palettes → Reset all saved settings and Deactivate here without contacting support.

Security and access

HighlightFlow requests access to only the current Google Doc, permission to show its sidebar, and permission to contact the license service. It does not request broad Google Drive access. No system can guarantee absolute security, but the architecture minimizes retained data and separates document processing from external license validation.

Google API Services User Data Policy

HighlightFlow's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Children

HighlightFlow is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children under the age required to consent to online services in their jurisdiction. Schools and organizations are responsible for authorizing use under their applicable policies.

Changes

Material changes will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. If a change materially expands data use, it will not apply retroactively without any consent required by law.
